2024 6 new riders and 30 new staff for Ineos Grenadier reset after tough year
The Ineos Grenadiers team spent last week in Manchester at the so-called "10 month camp" as 30 riders and about 90 staff began work to resolve the 2024 issues and conflicts and lay the groundwork for the 2025 season to move forward.

"It's the only opportunity in the season that the whole team can be together. 2025 is a critical time to focus firmly, reflect, enjoy and reset," the team said on social media.

The team took pictures of the annual awards night, visits to Manchester United's training ground and stadium, CEO John Allert and consultant psychiatrist Steve Peeters

Grenadier of Ineos endured the tough season of 2024. Despite being one of the sport's super teams and a former multiple winners of the Tour de France, the team won in 2024 in just 14 races. 3 overall in the Giro d'Italia, Filippo Ganna 2 in the time trials of the Olympic and World Championships, and Carlos Rodriguez in the Tour de Romandi. But as their big rivals UAE team Emirates, Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe and Lidl Trek get even stronger, the team appears to be in decline.

After Dave Brailsford resigned to manage other aspects of the Ineos sports portfolio and Rod Ellingworth left, Allert and new performance director Scott Drawer were in charge of revitalizing the team. The Drawer, which was taking notes in the race, recently revolutionized the performance structure of the team.

"Scott conducted a thorough review of every element of the performance, with his trademark energy and focus. He has come up with a clear plan and the decisive changes needed to set us up for success in the coming years," Allert said when the changes were confirmed

"This is a team with a proud legacy of success and we are all determined to return to the top steps of the podium. Our new performance structure and approach are key to building the next chapter of the team.

The Ineos Grenadier turned the page and began the next chapter in Manchester. All the new riders and staff were in attendance, but not the 2024 riders.

Ethan Hayter and Jonathan Narvaez all left the Grenadier at Ineos, while Luke Rowe retired and chose to join Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale as directeur sportif rather than a similar role at Ineos. Axel Lawrance, Lucas Hamilton, Bob Jungels, Samuel Watson, Victor Langerotti and Peter Oxenberg have signed contracts for 2025.

Drawer created a stream focused on stage racing, classics and future talent, with Thomas, Pidcock, Gunna, Tarling and Rodriguez and a stand-out rider on the 30-rider roster.

Pidcock was on the verge of leaving the Ineos Grenadier, especially after being "deselected" for Il Lombardy by senior team managers. But he's back in the crease and part of the roster for 2025, even if he's been modest in Manchester.

Former Director of racing Steve Cummings has left and cyclingnews understands that head coach Xabier Artetxe will also leave the team at the end of the season, with key staff massive

Kurt Asle Arvesen announced as lead sports Director. Other new staff include Directeur Sportif Leonardo Basso, new lead performance coach Tom Helleman, and performance who worked on the track with the British and Dutch sprint teams

Dr. Billy Fitton, who joined Dan Bigham, who left to join the Red Bull-Bora-Hansgerohe. On his behalf, he will join british Cycling as Head of Engineering and Technology.

"What I want to do with the performance is not particularly consistent with the way Ineos goes about it," Bigham said along the way.

"To be honest, Ineos is not where they want to be, nor where they need to be, and the gap is not small. "

Head mechanic Diego Costa also announced that he is leaving the Ineos Grenadiers, Danish mechanic Rune Christensen said according to the Manchester Ineos Grenadiers website that the 2024 team had a staff roster of about 85 people.

The camp in Manchester, like any other team gathering in the winter, is the only time the whole team gathers. During the season, riders and staff are scattered around the world, especially in Europe, targeting double or triple race programs and training camps.

The riders and staff seemed to leave Manchester with an ambition for the 2025 season.

"I think the team is in a good position for next year," Kristensen told Ekstra Bladet.

"It's no secret that it's not 100% functional this year. But I think our management team has taken the time to see what to replace rather than panic in the middle of the season. So they have it under control now.

"There are a lot of people who have left the team, but that's also because they don't believe it will be better, and they may not think that new things are good. Many of them are still talking about Team Sky Days.

"It's been a crap season, but there's actually a good atmosphere and people are willing to do some good work. We have a really good group of people."
