Tadej Pogačar and Urškačigart were named Slovenia's top male and female cyclists on Wednesday.When they both got home for the 75th anniversary of the cycling club they rode as juniors, KD Rog. 

The association, established in 1949, plays an important role in Slovenian cycling and, under the name of Pogachal, funds from his trade team UAE Emirates-Pogi Team UAE Generali.

The couple were awarded the highest rank at the gala event organized by KD Rog in Ljubljana at the end of 2024. As a Slovenian cyclist, he received the Golden Wheel Trophy, and Gal Gribal was awarded the award of the best under・23 rider.

"I don't have much to be in Slovenia. It's always fun to go home and meet family and friends. I love to participate in such events," Poganyal told Slovenian broadcaster RTVSlo.

"So far, each season is better than the last. I hope the next one will be even better. We look forward to new challenges. I like to test myself on a bike and enjoy nature. It is not difficult to motivate yourself."

speaking to the media at the Grand Plaza Hotel in the Slovenian capital, he did not reveal much about his next season, the final decision is to be made at the next training camp in the UAE on 12 May. But alongside the Tour de France, he mentioned Milan Sanremo as a big target, fleeing Palmares for the past few years and defending the world title in Rwanda next year. 

"I can't reveal much about the program yet, we'll talk about it after 12 months. We are very flexible about my program. The UAE tour is a suitable race to start," according to Ekipa, Pogağar said at a press conference.

"The performance on the two grand tours this season went well, and I think I will continue with a similar rhythm in a few years," he continued, without mentioning whether this would mean the Giro and tour again or a hit at the Vuelta along with his yellow jersey defense. "I'm not going to do that. 

His immediate future is not set in stone, but what is certain is that Poganyar will continue the next few years of his career until 2030, when he will sign a monumental 6-year extension with UAE team Emirates and will be able to earn 50 million Euros during that period. 

The season that broke the world of Poganyal not only did he finish in 2024 with 11,655 points as the top individual・ranked rider, Lemco Ibenepoel almost doubled to 2nd place, but he also scored more points than some world tour teams. We have won a lot of awards. 

Sigarto, where Pogachal is engaged, finished 101 spots higher than the next highest・ranked Slovenian woman, Eugenia Bujak, despite being controversially left out of the Paris Olympic team. 

Her highlights include winning both road races and time trials at the Slovenian National Championships, fourth at the Giro dell'Emilia and after spending 4 years at the Tour de Switzerland Liv AlUla Jayco she will ride AG Insurance-Soudal in 2025.
