Professional Cycling's annual musical chair game is a few weeks away from the end and 44WorldTour riders have not yet signed a new contract for the 2025 season. Among those yet to be confirmed, Columbia's Nairo Quintana topped the list in terms of points earned this season until Movistar announced it had renewed its 2025 contract.

Quintana could not find the 2023 team after being disqualified from the 2022 Tour de France on a positive test for tramadol. Movistar signed him in 2024 with a 1-year contract. Quintana suffered from illness and injury early in the season and abandoned GC's ambitions for the Giro d'Italia. He finished 2nd in the stage to Livigno, but did not win during the year.

2 riders from the list of previous unsigned riders have been updated with EF Education-EasyPost.Rui Costa until 2025, Michael Valgren until 2026, CORSO agents confirmed to Cyclingnews. Along with Madis Mihkels, Vincenzo Albanese, Samuele Battistella, Kasper Asgreen, Alex Baudin and Max Walter, the American team is confirming 26 riders for next year.

EF-EasyPost has not yet announced whether Alexander Cepeda, Esteban Chaves, Stefan De Bod and James Shaw will remain on the team. Cepeda is one of the top-ranked riders in 2025 that has not yet been confirmed.1

Also on the list of riders looking for a team is Elia Viviani, who was not on Ineos' roster of 30 riders. 1 Leo Hayter, who does not make a cut for the British team, suffers from depression, and in a statement this summer, he announced that he will not continue the team.

Taco van der Hoorn, who helped lead Intermarché-Wanty on the world tour in 2021 and 2022, suffers from the after-effects of a concussion he suffered in 2023. After 14 months away from the race, he returned to the race on May 6 and claimed his first win at Betcity Elfstedenrace last month.

Mads Würtz Schmidt, 30, is also looking for a new team, according to his agent at CORSO, after not making a cut at Israel-Premier Tech in 2025.

The team preferred young riders and riders who could earn points as the World Tour team approached the final year of the UCI's 3-year promotion/relegation cycle.

The oldest rider who has not yet signed for next year is Cameron Wolfe (41), Araki Yukiya (40), Ben Hermans and Dmitriy Gurzdev (38) are included

There are riders under 23 who have not found a team, and Colombia's Santiago Umba (Astana) is the youngest at the age of 21.
