Demi Volering has signed a two-year contract with FDJ-SUEZ from 2025 to 2026. Volering joins Evita Mujic and newcomer Juliette Labouce as co-leaders of the French World Tour team.

“From the first time I met the FDJ-SUEZ team, I immediately got a good feeling for them. I couldn't stop smiling. I am happy to embark on this adventure, experience new things and rediscover myself with this team,” said Vollering. [I liked the collective fighting spirit of FDJ-SUEZ and the attacking mentality during the race. We are going to be a great team and I am sure great things await us."

FDJ-SUEZ general manager Stefan Delcourt, in an interview with Cycling News on Monday, acknowledged that Vollering signed a two-year contract with the team this spring, but respected her current team, SD Walks Pro Time, and said she will now She said she chose not to announce it so that she could focus on her goals for the season.

“It's a great day for the FDJ-SUEZ team and let's not forget it's a great day for cycling and for the French cycling community. You can compare the men's and women's cycling models, but this is the first time a star athlete has accepted a contract with a French team,” Delcourt told Cycling News. [The last three years and three Tour de France events have changed our sport. Our new ambition for our team is to become not only a women's cycling team, but a team for cycling and the sport in general.

The timing of Volering's negotiations and subsequent agreement with FDJ-SUEZ occurred after rumors surfaced in March that she had been offered a €1 million contract and would leave SD Walks Pro Time at the end of 2024.

At that time, SD Volks Pro Time team manager Erwin Jansen revealed that the team had tried to retain both Volering and world champion Lotte Kopecký.

Delcourt confirmed to Cyclingnews that Vollering and FDJ-SUEZ had negotiated and reached a signed agreement by the end of this spring, but did not give a specific date.

“A formal agreement was signed at the end of the spring, and then we decided to focus on my side of the team and her side of the SD Works. The reason why is that she has great respect for her SD Works partners and teammates. For that reason, it was best for her to focus on the Olympics, the Tour, and the Worlds, and wait.”

Delcourt did not reveal the salary contract between Vollering and FDJ-Suez, but she did say that although her contract was not for 1 million euros, she believes that the other teams that were competing for Vollering's signature may have had the financial budget to offer that amount. She admitted to Cyclingnews.

“Maybe it's true, but maybe not from my team, maybe from another team. I can't speak for other players; I know that with a team like the UAE anything is possible.”

Asked if there was competition and several teams were trying to negotiate a contract with Volering, Delcourt replied, “Yes and no.”

“In the beginning I read all the rumors about Demi and SD Walks. After Lotte Kopecky officially extended his contract, I wanted to know what happened to SD Worx and why. Step by step, I discovered every part of it, and at one point it changed when I said, 'Maybe now is the time to meet her in person, not just with her agent.'

“Right after that first meeting, I was motivated. It was as if I had taken a new step forward. She spoke a lot about her values and ethics and how she wanted to run and be on the team with the athletes, staff and sponsors. She said, “When compared to my team's values, our sponsors, FDJ and SUEZ, are two large international companies headed by two women. Most importantly, they inspire the next generation.”

“In my step-by-step discussions with Demi, I felt she was the perfect match for my team. She will be happy on our team and we can take another step forward into the future.”

Volering began her professional career at Parkhotel Valkenburg in 2019 and joined SD Works in 2021.

Volering won the Tour de France Femme in 2023. She also finished second in the 2022 Tour, won by Annemiek van Fruten, and second overall in this year's event, won by Kasia Nieviadma.

He also won La Vuelta Femenina and the Ardennes Triple Crown: He also won La Vuelta Femenina, the Ardennes Triple Crown (Amstel Gold Race, La Flèche Wallonne, Liege-Bastogne-Liege), and many other stage races and He has also won one-day races.

According to Delcourt, Vollering will co-lead the FDJ-SUEZ with Evita Mujic, who finished fourth overall in this year's Tour de France Femme, and newcomer Juliette Labouse, who finished fourth overall in the 2022 edition.

The team also had departures at the end of the year, with longtime co-leader Cecilie Uttrup-Ludwig moving to Canyon-SRAM and Marta Cavalli not announcing her team for 2025.

“It's been a good couple of years and we've taken the next step,” said Cavalli. Grace Brown was the best domestic player for GC leaders Cecilie, Marta, and Evita and a great player for the team. This is the last year for Grace and perhaps the end of an era for Marta and Cecilie. [Directly, our top priority was Juliette, and she wanted to sign with a team where she could be a leader, but not alone. She has been with the team since she was 17 and we can push her to be better and support her. And we always run this way and Demi does it every time.” We can share leadership and ride with riders like Marlen Reusser, Lotte Kopecky, and Niamh Fischer-Black. We share the same spirit and values. Demi is number one, but for Juliette and Evita, if they want to keep improving.”

“I would rather have Demi as a teammate than play against him” The answer is simple. I want to be aggressive up front with him, but I want to play more cards.”

FDJ-SUEZ with world champion Lotte Kopecky, SD Walks Pro Time with returning Anna van der Breggen, Vima-Reese a Bike with Pauline Ferrand-Prevot signed, Lidl Trek, Elisa Longo Borghini The move should change the balance of the Women's World Tour, as it will compete against UAE team ADQ, which has signed with.

Asked if she thinks FDJ-SUEZ will be the strongest team in 2025, Delcourt replied. It is especially difficult to analyze Visma, which signed Pauline Ferran-Prevot, and SD Walks, which signed Anna van der Breggen and acquired Lotte Kopecky. It is not hard to imagine that it will be a good competition.

“We are one of the best teams on paper. The most important thing now is how we can make the best team in all the races of the Tour de France and the Classics, and the most important thing is the synergy of all the riders. We have three GC leaders: Vollering, Mujic, and Labouse, but we also have riders Vittoria Guazzini, Elise Chaby, and Allie Wollaston. If we do well as a team, we have some promising riders and we will win a lot.

The signing of Vollaring means that FDJ-SUEZ, which consists of 17 players, will no longer be recruiting for the 2025 season.

FDJ-SUEZ subsequently released a video on social media announcing Volering's two-year contract.
