The Canyon-SRAM team, winner of the Tour de France Femme, announced the addition of Chiara Consonni to its roster for next season, with the Italian sprinter signing a two-year contract.
Consonni moved to the Women's World Tour from UAE team ADQ in 2023 after winning the previous year's Dwars door Hlaanderen; in 2023 she took a stage win at the Giro d'Italia and a stage and overall win at the Tour of Chongmin Island. This year she won another Giro stage win and two one-day races, and finished third in Ghent-Wevelgem.
“Canyon-SRAM Racing has been my dream team since I was young,” he said. It feels special to be a part of this team for the next few years. Even though I have a lot to learn, I hope to contribute to the team with my sprint and lead-out experience.”
Consoni was part of the Italian Madison gold medal team at the Paris Olympics with Vittoria Guazzini.
She added in her team presentation that the result inspired her. She said, “After this experience, I feel much more confident in myself. This victory motivated me to never give up and to give 100 percent in any situation."
She added, ”I am very proud of myself.
Consonni, along with Tour de France winner Kasia Niewiadoma, newcomer Wilma Wintilla (Lotto Doustony), unbound gravel winner Rosa Klaser, and Cecile Uttrup-Ludwig (FDJ-Suez), track cycling specialist Maria Martins, along with Canyon-SRAM Generation's Anastasia Kolesava, will join the team.
“My goals for the upcoming season are to improve as a person and an athlete, and to win classic races in the North. This team is full of experienced and motivated people, so I think it fits with my goals.”
