Soudal Quickstep Finalizes 2025 Roster with Gianmarco Garofoli

Soudal Quickstep completed its 2025 roster by signing 22-year-old Gianmarco Garofoli, who made his professional debut with the Astana Kazakstan team in 2023.

The young climber is the seventh newcomer for the Belgian team, joining Ethan Hayter of Ineos, Pascal Enkhorn of Lotto Destony, Valentin Palais-Pantlet of Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale, Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe's Max Schachmann, and Dries Van Gestel of Total Energies also signed contracts. Andrea Lacagni Noviero also joined as a neo-pro from the Sourdal-Quick Step development team.

“I am really happy to be running for one of the best teams in the world next year and I am already very excited about this great opportunity,” Garofoli said in a team press release.

“I want to help them on the climbs whenever they need it and I want to seize any opportunity I can. My main goal for next season is to continue to grow and become a better rider.

Team CEO Patrick Lefebvre has historically focused on the classics to support Grand Tour contender Remco Evenpoel, who finished third in this year's Tour de France after winning the Vuelta a España title in 2023. He has built up.

The double Olympic gold medalist has been the target of several attempts to pull him out of his contract with Soudal-Quickstep, which runs through 2026.

Lefebvre continued to bolster his climbers, with Julien Alaphilippe moving to Tudor Pro Cycling, Kasper Asgreen to EF Education Easypost, and Jan Hilt to Israel Premier Tech.

Completing the roster at Garofoli, Sourdal-Quick Step indirectly allowed Gianni Moscon to leave the team. There are rumors that he will sign with Red Bull - Bora Hansgrohe. Lefebvre speculated in August that Moscon would sign a new two-year contract after signing with Soudal-Quickstep for a minimum salary.

Fausto Masnada will also move on, but his destination is yet to be determined.

With the signing of Garofoli, Lefebvre said the team continues to invest in young players.

“He is only 22 years old, but he has a lot of potential and has shown great riding this season, not only in hard races like the Vuelta, but also before he turned pro.
