Taddei Pogachar Announces Supporting Members for Il Lombardia, Concluding “The Perfect Season

UAE Team Emirates has announced the support lineup for this Saturday's Il Lombardia for Tadei Pogachar, who is looking for his fourth consecutive victory at the Monument, a feat achieved only by the great Fausto Coppi.

In the last race of the season, Pogachar will be joined by the in-form Marc Hirschke, Jan Kristen, Finn Fischer Black, Pavel Sivakov, and Adam Yates and Rafau Mayka, who have previously finished on the podium at Lombardia in Bergamo. They will be at the start line.

Pogachar, who won the World Championships road race with a stunning 100km attack and 50km solo victory, debuted the rainbow jersey at the Giro delle Miglia.

“My first race in rainbow colors was very special. The Giro delle Miglia has always been a race that has eluded me, but I am happy to finally win last weekend,” Pogacha said.

“I'm still in very good shape and I want to make one last push for Lombardia.”

A fourth straight win at Il Lombardia would add to his one-day victories at Strade Bianche, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Montreal GP, World Championships, and Emilia, as well as Grand Tour wins at the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France to complete a brilliant It will cap off one of the best seasons of his career.

“This year has been a perfect season. Everyone on the team worked really hard.

“There is no doubt that we will look back on this year as a really special time. But it's not over yet and I want to end on a high note with a strong result at Lombardia, the last race of the season.”

Pogachar, the newly crowned world champion who has won the last three Falling Leaves races, will enter as a strong contender against Remco Evenpole (Soudal-Quick Step) and Enric Mas (Movistar).

Pogachar's last entry before Lombardia was supposed to be Tre Valli Varesine yesterday, but heavy rain and flooding caused organizers to cancel the event. The 252-km Il Lombardia route from Bergamo to Como will be the final stage of his historic 2024 season.

He already has 24 wins, the most of the season, and a seventh win at Monumento over the weekend would give him seven wins in cycling's five most prestigious one-day races, tying him with Gino Bartali, Tom Boonen, and Fabian Cancellara.
