Given that we in the Northern Hemisphere are plunging from the highs of summer into the cold, dark depths of winter, a discount on a fan is probably not hard to come by, nor is it something that would excite many people.
But this fan is not like the others; it is a Wahoo Kickr Headwind, and as anyone who has ridden it indoors for more than 10 minutes will tell you, it can be a game changer.
I own one of these fans and use it almost daily. In fact, yesterday, after looking for Prime Day deals on cycling products, I decided to end the day with a 90-minute training ride. The weather outside was terrible, so I took a short ride to the spare bedroom where my newest review trainer, the Zwift Ride and Wahoo Kickr Core Zwift One are set up, and there I was in the latest round of the UCI XCO World Cup in Mont-Sanne. There was Kickr Headwind staring me in the face next to the TV where I watched Sina Frei win the latest round of the UCI XCO World Cup in Mont-Sainte-Anne.
This is an item I've had since about 2019 and has been through some serious hardship. It has suffered flooding and temperatures ranging from -8 to +35 degrees Celsius, but it still runs (blows) strong every time I ride it indoors.
To be honest, many other fans could easily do a similar job. This is especially true of industrial fans, which have a narrower wind direction and more powerful flow than the round ones with huge propellers that send wind in the general direction, but app-based control and automation based on speed and heart rate are just a few of the factors that make this fan stand out.
It's not the only indoor cycling product worth noting today, the last day of this latest Prime Day sale, but if you're looking to get your spare bedroom (or garage, shed, wherever...) ready for winter indoor cycling and you don't have a high-powered fan, at least consider it.
And if you're setting up indoors for the first time, I've gathered some offers from Amazon and elsewhere that I think are worth considering. These are all products that either my colleagues or I have personally used and appreciated.
