Canyon-Slam announced that it has signed Cecilie Uttrup-Ludwig to a two-year contract for 2025 and beyond.
The Danish rider has spent the past five seasons with FDJ-Suez in France, and on Thursday she announced on Facebook that her time with the team will end.
Uttrup Ludwig, who won a stage at this year's Tour Down Under and finished in the top 10 at the Tour de France Femme, will be the main leader of the German Women's WorldTour team along with Kasia Niewiadoma.
The 29-year-old has 18 wins to her credit, including a stage win at the 2022 Tour, four Danish national titles, and the overall win at the 2022 Tour of Scandinavia.
“I am very much looking forward to joining Canyon Strahm Racing after 2025. I love the team's aggressive racing style and the fact that they aren't afraid to lose.” I love the team's aggressive racing style and the fact that they are not afraid to lose. That's the kind of rider I aspire to be, and that's what I want to be.”
“2024 was a tough season for me. A lot of crashes and illnesses. I want to forget about all this and get back to my old form. That way I can contribute to a super dynamic team and we can achieve our goals together.”
She said she can bounce back from tough times, as she proved in the 2022 Tour de France femme, adding that she hopes to build on a challenging season.
“Sometimes you gain strength through tough times. For example, in the first Tour de France femme with Zwift, most of the team crashed in the second stage and lost a lot of time overall. But I managed to recover and win a stage the next day. It was one of the proudest moments of my career. You must never give up.”
“It is clear from my conversations with the team and staff that their support is very professional and will help me further develop as a rider... Connect it to 2025,” she concluded.
The contract with Uttrup Ludwig is Canyon-Scrum's first for 2025.
Along with retiring Olympic and World Championship time trial champion Grace Brown, Uttrup-Ludwig represents a major talent loss for the French team.
However, Chaby will join the team and Juliette Laboux will also join from DSM-Filmenig Post NL.
