There is no doubt that UAE Team Emirates is the number one team in the world. But the team of world champion, Tour de France and Giro d'Italia winner Tadey Pogachar seems to have broken a record since 2000, winning for the 76th time with 20 different riders.
Juan Sebastian Morano won the second stage of the CRO race on Wednesday, becoming the 20th of 30 riders in the UAE Team Emirates.
According to a UAE Team Emirates press release, the previous record for individual wins by a professional team was 19, held by Mapei Quick Step since 2000.
HTC-Colombia set the record for most team wins in recent years with 85 wins in 2009, which came from 16 riders.
This year, 22 of the team's victories came from Pogachar, who has been the world's number one rider since mid-2021, starting the season with a win at Strade Bianche and four stage wins at Volta a Catalunya. He continued his winning streak in Liège-Bastogne-Liège, and at the Giro d'Italia, he won six stages by nearly 10 minutes.
He also won the Tour de France overall and six stages, but then took a break. He then won the Montreal Grand Prix and rode solo for nearly 100 km before winning the elite men's road race at the UCI Road World Championships. [Brandon McNulty won seven races, including the opening time trial of the Vuelta a España. Adam Yates won six races, and Juan Ayuso won four.
Three wins went to Isaac del Toro, Finn Fischer-Black, Antonio Morgado, Diego Ulissi, and Tim Wellens. Joao Almeida won two races, and single race winners include Morano, Nils Pollitt, Domen Novak, Marc Soler, Pavel Sivakov, and Jay Wein.
The team is not done yet this season. Pogachar will debut his new rainbow jersey at the Giro delle Miglia on Saturday and will continue to compete at the Tre Valli Varesine on October 8 and Il Lombardia on October 12.
