Spratt, Hanson, and Sanguinetti extend Lidl Trek contracts

Lidl Trek has extended the contracts of core riders Lauretta Hanson, Amanda Spratt, and Ilaria Sanguinetti. These three riders have played the role of domestiques, supporting their teammates throughout the international racing season, winning countless times.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have riders like Spratty, Lauretta, and Yaya on our team. Spratty's leadership and climbing expertise, Lauretta's strength in all terrain, and Yaya's outstanding lead-out skills are critical to our success,” said Ina-Joko Teutenberg, the team's sport director.

“Each of these riders brings something unique to the team and gives their all to the task. It is their support that allows our leaders to perform at their best.”

Hanson just completed her sixth season with the team since signing with then-Trek Segafredo in 2019. She signed a new two-year contract extension that will keep her racing with the team until the end of 2026.

She will be relied upon throughout the spring classics season while also supporting the team's GC contenders in the Grand Tours.

“Extending my contract with Lidl Trek was an easy decision and I am very happy. I have been a part of this team since its inception and it is an environment where I feel valued and where I am constantly challenged, inspired, and encouraged to do my best,” Hanson said in a team press release.

“In 2019 we were a new team, everyone was growing and developing together, now six years later we are one of the best teams in the world. I feel incredibly proud to have been a part of that journey and am excited to continue it into the future. There are going to be some big changes in the next couple of years, but I'm looking forward to them and am ready to run the next chapter with Lidl Trek.”

Hanson's compatriot Spratt joined Lidl-Trek in 2023 after spending 11 seasons with the Orica-Bike Exchange-Mitchelton teams. Her career includes three overall victories at the Tour Down Under, an overall win at the Emakmen Vila, two overall third places at the Giro d'Italia, and podium finishes at Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Trofeo Alfredo Binda, and the elite women's road race at the World Championships.

“It was an easy decision to renew my contract with Lidl-Trek and remain a part of this family for two more years. Ridle Trek is a team that I admired long before I joined in 2023, and I am constantly inspired and motivated by the people around me, especially my teammates. Lidl Torek is getting stronger and stronger and I think this is a really exciting moment for us,” Spratt said.

Spratt also signed a two-year contract extension to continue her experience and mentoring of young riders while supporting the team for more wins in the next two seasons.

“Personally, I am as ambitious as ever for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, whether racing for my own results or working for my teammates. The beauty of cycling is that when my teammates win, I feel as good as when I win, and this team spirit is one of the things I love most about racing, and about Riddle-Trek racing.”

Sanguinetti began her career with Valcar before joining the team in 2023 and renewing her contract with Lidl Trek for another year in 2025. She will excel in the lead-out role of former world champion Elisa Balsamo, once again contributing to the team's sprinting success, as well as mentoring the team's newer riders.

“This reaffirmation is a great honor for me. Lidl Trek is a dream team, a unique group and a second family to me. I am very, very happy. Our group has undergone a major transformation for the future. We have several new riders coming in and we have already added a lot of young riders this year. Considering the number of people, I will be one of the most experienced riders. But I believe the winning formula is exchange: I have several years of professional experience and many apprenticeships under my belt, but that does not mean I will stop learning from the new generation. I see this as an exciting challenge and prospect,” Sanguinetti said.

“But my first goal is to get back to 2024, which didn't go the way I wanted it to. Needless to say, I could not give everything to the team. Now that I am back in shape and condition, my goal is to finish the season with a bold performance. And now I'm heading straight for 2025. The spirit and passion will remain the same, but I want to add important experiences and results. Being a team player and a role model for the team and the group, in and out of the race, will be an important reward. The trust the team has placed in me with the renewal of my contract will give me a strong push to bring out the best in myself and to grow even more.”
