We will stay where we are” - Remco Evenpole, who has stated that he will remain at Sourdal Quickstep in 2025.

Lemko Evenpoel has drawn a line under persistent speculation of a move to Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe by confirming that he will remain with Sourdal-Quick Step next season.

Speaking at the Belgian team hotel in Wetzikon on Friday ahead of the World Championship road race, Evenpoel made it clear that he will remain with the Patrick Lefevere-led team in 2025.

“I will stay where I am, that is clear. There will be no transfer.”

Even though Evenpoel is under contract with Sourdal Quickstep until the end of 2026, his future with the team has been the subject of much speculation. Last year, the possibility of a move to Ineos was discussed several times, and more recently, the addition of Red Bull as title sponsor for Bora-Hansgrohe fueled speculation that he would move to Ralf Denk's team in 2025.

On Thursday evening, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the move to Red Bull had fallen through. On Friday morning, Evenpoel downplayed reports that he was seriously considering a move, but admitted that he would remain at Srdal Quickstep.

“As usual there was a lot of speculation and I think some of the information was more than I myself knew.

“I'm with my teammates. I will work and fight for my biggest goal, which is to win the Tour de France one day.”

Evenpoel finished third overall in his debut Tour this summer, winning a stage victory and the young rider of the year award; he won gold in both the time trial and road race at the 2024 Paris Olympics and retained his time trial title at the Zurich World Championships.

Earlier this week, Soudal-Quick Step manager Patrick Lefebvre suggested that Evenpoel could compete in both the Giro d'Italia and the Tour in 2025.
