Red Bull and Bora Hansgrohe Announce Acquisition of Oia Lazcano for 2025

Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe has further strengthened its squad for the 2025 season with the long-rumored acquisition of Basque aggressive all-rounder Oiel Lascano from Movistar.

Lascano, a former Spanish national team member, burst onto the scene in 2023 after a strong showing in the spring classics, including a second-place finish at Dwars Door Hlaanderen, following his transfer from Caja Rural Seguros RGA.

He won the Spanish Championships road race solo ahead of Juan Ayuso, and won the Vuelta a Burgos with a stage win in Mayenne and the mountainous fourth stage. Lascano's breakthrough continued this season, with a solo win at the Clasica Jaen Paraiso Interior after a one-day breakaway, a podium finish at the Couleurs Brussel-Coulomb, and a top 10 overall finish at the Criterium du Dauphiné.

He was one of the most active riders in the Tour de France this summer, taking part in six breakaways, most recently contributing to Enric Mas' podium at the Vuelta a España.

“I'm very excited to be joining Red Bull-Bohra-Hansgrohe and I'm looking forward to working with the team.

“It's a big step forward in my career. I am very grateful for the trust the team has placed in me. It's a great opportunity to work with some of the biggest names in the sport.”

Lazcano, 24, becomes the sixth Lazcano to sign a contract for 2025, taking advantage of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe's newly acquired financial resources. The team has reportedly tried to sign Lemko Evenpole, but the Belgian has recently indicated that he will honor his contract with Sudar-Quickstep for 2025.

Lazcano will be joined by Italian climber Giulio Pellizzari (VSF Group - Bardiani CSF - Faizane), talented New Zealanders Lawrence Piti (Groupama - FDJ) and Finn Fischer-Black (UAE Team Emirates ), and Dutch classics specialists Visma-Reese-A-Bike, brothers Tim and Mick van Dijk, will be signed for next season.

“Ouelle is still young, but has already made a name for himself with his pure power,” said team CEO Ralf Denk.

“His style stands out in modern cycling. His instinctive attack and strong pull-through. It looks old-fashioned at times, but it's successful and inspires me.

. We can use this power well in the classics, and having Ouellet gives us even more options in the stage races.”
