Spanish champion Alex Aramburu will leave Movistar at the end of the season and move to Cofidis where he has signed a three-year contract.
Aramburu is the seventh new player for Cofidis. Other newcomers include Emmanuel Buchmann, Simon Carr, and Dylan Theuns, while Guillaume Martin and Alex Gingle will leave the team.
“We are honored and proud to welcome Alex Aramburu to Cofidis. He is an important new addition to our team that needs to regain its rightful place in the world hierarchy,” director Cedric Vasseur said in a statement Wednesday. [Alex will share the leadership of the One Day Race with Dylan Tuns. Having the Spanish champion in our ranks is an added motivation for the entire team and we want to establish ourselves at the highest level.”
Aranburu has won eight races as a professional, including a stage win in Iturria-Basque in 2021, and is adept at winning UCI points on punchy terrain. At this year's Tour de France, he rode aggressively, finishing fourth in the gravel stage to Troyes. [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...]
