Elisa Balsamo (Lidl-Trek) won the group sprint in Saturday's Classic Lorient Agglomeration. However, it was an unfortunate sprint for fourth place for her and her team as Amber Clark (FDJ-Suez), Chloe Diggart (Canyon-SRAM), and Rian Lippert (Movistar Team) attacked on the last lap and held off the chasing peloton.
Before the final, Lidle Trek tried to make it a hard race to drop the other sprinters, especially Charlotte Kuhl (DSM-Filmenig Post NL), who could challenge Balsamo in the sprint. Lizzie Deignan and Elisa Longo Borghini attacked from the peloton in an attempt to form a strong breakaway group. Their efforts failed, and the team instead focused on chasing Amber Clark (FDJ-Suez).
They closed in on Clark's two-minute advantage and things were looking good as Kool temporarily dropped out of the peloton. As the race entered the last 6km, Longo Borghini tried to pull away from Clark, but there was still a 15-second gap. [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...]
