The chorus of “Allez Juliette” reached a climax near the end of stage 6 of the Tour de France Femme when Juliette Labouse (Team dsm-Filmenig Post NL) attacked at the base of the Côte des Fices in search of victory! reached its peak.
The French champion had little opportunity to bask in the fanfare as she reached the final 15 km, but she heard the cheers and caught a glimpse of their faces as she plunged into the base of the climb.
Her former club team, Le Vélo Club Morteau Mont-Benoit (VCMM), waved a dedicated sign on the final climb, her face painted on a giant sign, and bikes decorated with flowers along the course. Rabbs became the first female athlete to bear her own name in the Côte des Finns.
“It was really amazing. There were so many signs and so many people saying 'Allez Juliette. They named a corner after me. It was wonderful and special,” Laboux told Cycling News at the finish line in Morteau.
