Kasia Niewidoma wins by the narrowest margin in Tour de France history.

Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon-SRAM) collapsed on the summit of Alpe d'Huez, exhausted and in shock, to learn that she had won the overall at the 2024 Tour de France Femme.

It was a pivotal moment in cycling, as Greg LeMond won the 1989 Tour de France, beating Laurent Fignon by eight seconds, the smallest margin of victory in women's and men's Tour de France history.

“Four seconds is magical. I can honestly say that throughout my career there have been many times when I have missed a win for one reason or another.

“Everything went our way and despite a few crashes early in the stage race, we were able to stay focused on our goal. To win big races you need to have everything on your side.”

“We still haven't had enough time to take it all in. It feels great to be on the top step. Not only do I need to work hard, but I also need the stars to be on my side.

After finishing second in stage 5, Niwi Adomah is now the overall leader. [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...]

In what has been called one of the toughest races of his career, Niewiadoma finished fourth, 1:01 behind Musich.

“In racing, you need good legs, but you also need luck and to be in the right place. I'm having the best season of my career, with the Gravel World Championships last fall, La Flèche Wallonne this spring, and now the Tour de France.

“With the help of my team, family and friends, I was patient and wanted things to go my way. I had a lot of luck this week, was in a good place, and had good legs. That's what it takes to win a stage race.”

When asked what it meant to win the yellow jersey, Nienyadoma said, “It's really great. It is difficult to express this feeling. It's a feeling I don't even understand.”
