Rohan Dennis has been formally charged with manslaughter by dangerous driving and manslaughter by negligent driving in connection with the death of his wife, Olympic athlete and former world champion Melissa Hoskins.
According to Australia's Associated Press AAP, prosecutor Talia Kosty confirmed the indictment in Adelaide Magistrates Court.
Denise, a former professional cyclist and two-time world champion, was arrested in January after Hoskins, 32, was seriously injured outside her Adelaide home on the night of December 30. She was taken to a nearby hospital but died of her injuries on December 31.
Authorities released Dennis on bail to care for the couple's two children while they conduct a thorough reconstruction of the incident.
He appeared in court on August 6, but did not make any statements as authorities confirmed the indictment. His attorney obtained a 12-week extension to decide the plea in the case, and the decision was postponed to October 30.
If convicted, Dennis could face up to 15 years in prison.
Hoskins was a member of the Australian women's team pursuit team at the 2012 London Olympics, where the team finished fourth, and fifth at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
She was remembered at the January service, where her father said, "We are celebrating a life cut too short today. Melissa was just warming up ...... Her best performances were yet to come. All of us are saddened. There could have been so much more."
