Daigert and Nieuwadoma Bring Olympic Energy to Canyon-SRAM at Tour de France Femmes

Four athletes, Kasia Njeviadma, Chloe Daigier, Elise Chaby, and Agnieszka Charniak-Showika, will compete in cycling at the Paris Olympics, and Canyon at the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift on August 12-18. They will return as SRAM riders.

The Polish rider, who finished third overall last year, will join Neve Bradbury, Soraya Paladin, and Alice Towers to lead the overall contenders in the Tour's eight stages.

"Every stage is very tiring this year. I won't be able to ride just thinking about the final climb. I know my level is higher than last year, so I want to show that and do my best and not miss the chance to get a great result," Nienyadoma said in a team statement.

"The finish in the Alpe d'Huez will be crucial for my fitness and fatigue tolerance, which will gradually build up throughout the previous seven stages. I am not a time trial specialist and I prefer to finish the Tour on an iconic mountain rather than a time trial.

Niewiadoma finished eighth in the Olympic road race, and her teammate Daigert represented the United States in Paris, winning bronze in the individual time trial and gold in the team pursuit on the track.

Joining Diggart in making her debut in the Tour de France Femme was 22-year-old Bradbury. The finale on the summit of L'Alpe d'Huez is perfect for the young Australian, who won the queen stage of the Giro d'Italia's Brockhaus summit finish and finished third overall in that Grand Tour.

"Overall, it's a challenging course, but it's pretty heavy and the GC battle will mostly be decided in the final stage. I'm looking forward to stage 8, which finishes in Alpe d'Huez. It's similar to the stage I won in the Giro, and I think the crowd will go crazy on the hills. I want to keep riding aggressively so I don't have any regrets," Bradbury said.

This year's Grande Paire will be held in Rotterdam and will open with a road stage, followed on Tuesday by a 67 km road stage and a 6.3 km time trial. The Tour climaxes with a mountain stage in the Alps.

Last year, in addition to the GC podium, Niewiadoma won the mountains prize. Towers finished fifth in the young rider of the year award and was happy to be back to support the team after not finishing the Giro this year due to injury.

"The preparation for the Tour de France Fam Avec Zwift was difficult. After my crash in the Giro, I injured my knee and have been working daily with my coach on physiotherapy in order to go into the race in good shape. I've been working hard with my coach and in physical therapy every day to be in good shape going into the race.

"This year's Tour de France Femmes Avec Zwift has a big load at the end of the race and the GC mountain days are in the last two or three stages. The parcours will work for us, as it did for us at last year's Tour and this year's Giro, where we had strong performances in the final stages of the hard stage races."
