Riding Like Hell" - Former National Time Trial Champion Lawson Craddock Announces Retirement

Former two-time U.S. National Time Trial champion Lawson Craddock has announced that this season will be his last as a professional racer.

The 32-year-old Houston native said via his Instagram account that it has been "one hell of a ride," but that he will hang up his wheels at the end of 2024.

A team worker and all-rounder, Craddock won the 2021 and 2022 National Time Trial Championships for the second year in a row.

In the 2023 Tour de France, he secured fourth place behind Wout Poels (Bahrain Victorious) after taking part in a one-day move across the Alps on the Mont Blanc stage, and in the 2019 Vuelta, in a breakaway group through the foothills of the Pyrenees to Uludax He finished third behind Mikel Ituria of Euskadi Murias.

Craddock began racing at the World Tour level with Giant-Shimano in 2014. That same year, he achieved his best stage race result at the Tour of California, finishing third overall behind Bradley Wiggins and winning the BYR. 2022 he joined his current team, Jayco Aiuia, where he has been racing for the past two years and has been a member of the team for the past three years.

"Last European trip with family," Craddock posted on Instagram this week under a shot with his children at the Houston airport.

"2024 will be my last year in the propeloton.

"There are many people to thank, but none more so than my wife and kids. I am so happy to have them by my side and I can't wait to see what the future holds."

It is unknown which races Craddock will participate in before retiring at the end of this season.
