Visma-Lease a Bike Signs Simon Yates to Support Vingegaard in the 2025 Tour de France in Pogachar

Team Visma-Reese-a-Bike announced a new deal for 2025, revealing that Simon Yates will strengthen its Grand Tour team.

On Thursday, Visma-Reese-a-Bike revealed that Frenchman Alex Gingle will join the team from Cofidis to strengthen the Classics team.

Visma-Ries-a-Bike will move Jan Tratnik and twins Mick and Tim van Dijk to Red Bull-Bohra-Hansgrohe, while Mike Tunissen is expected to return to the team to lead Olaf Kooij in the sprint. 2025. four riders from the Visma Lease-a-Bike development team are expected to step up to the World Tour level, including 18-year-old Englishman Matthew Brennan.

Simon Yates will take a leadership role in Jayco Alula, riding with Jonas Vingegaard. He will provide important support to the Tour de France in a similar role as his twin brother does for Tadei Pogachal with UAE Team Emirates, and will also lead Vimalise a Bike in other stage races.

"I couldn't pass up this opportunity, as this is a team I have admired for a long time.

"I have enjoyed a lot of success in my career and look forward to continuing to work hard and contribute to the success of the team.

Yates has been part of the GreenEdge setup since 2014 and won the 2018 Vuelta a España. He has also won stages in all three Grand Tours and was fourth overall in the 2023 Tour de France.

"Despite having a great time with my current team, I felt it was time to change teams to continue improving myself and getting the most out of it. I look forward to meeting my new teammates and staff and getting started on 2025."

Yates has agreed to a two-year contract and will replace Primoš Roglic, who was released from his contract to move to Red Bull-Bohra-Hansgrohe by Visma Reese a Bike.

He will play a similar role to American Matteo Jorgenson and 2023 Vuelta a España winner Sepp Kuss.
