Blanca Vas has extended her contract with SD Works Pro Time and will remain with the Dutch team until the end of 2027.The reigning under-23 road race world champion, Blanca Vas, believes the team will give her the best opportunity to grow while racing on the World Tour She believes that this team will give her the best opportunity to grow and develop while racing in the World Tour.
“I feel good here and there is a lot of freedom. I am convinced that Team SD Walks Pro Time is a team where I can continue to grow,” said the Hungarian champion.
Vas joined the SD Worx-Protime team midway through the 2021 season. This will be her third full season with the team, and she has already won stages at the Women's WorldTour Giro d'Italia Women's and Tour de Suisse. She also finished second in a stage at the Vuelta España Femenina and took the leader's jersey for two days. She is a five-time Hungarian road race champion and a three-time individual time trial champion.
One of the reasons she decided to stay with SD Works Pro Time is because it allows her to combine her road and off-road racing schedule throughout the year. She also looked at the opportunity to race with Anna van der Breggen, who will retire and fight with the team starting in 2025.
“Team SD Walks Pro Time is good. The atmosphere in the team suits me. I can combine cyclocross with road and mountain biking. It's very freeing and I feel at home here,” Vass said. I've already learned a lot from my experienced teammates. I am riding with some of the top riders and learning a lot from them. My best win so far was at the Giro, and the U23 world title is another highlight. I have gained a lot of confidence from that
“Luck hasn't been on my side yet this year, but I have to focus on the positives. We are recovering and I feel we are making progress.
“My goals for the future are to try to win, to be stronger in climbing, and to be more present in the finals. I am also looking forward to racing with Anna van der Breggen. I have learned a lot from her as a trainer over the past three years. I have a lot of respect for her and I look forward to putting my number with her.”
Team director Danny Stam called Vas a “mega-talent” who has bounced back from several difficult moments in her career to win important races.
“She should be a force in the classics. We will continue to invest in her development over the next few years and are happy to extend her contract through 2027.
“This is a great opportunity for her,” Stamm said.
“This is possible because our main sponsors SD Worx and Protime provide stability. If we really trust someone, as we do with Blanca Vas, we are happy to keep them on the team longer."
