Marta Cavalli escaped serious injury after being hit by a car driver while training near her home in northern Italy on Friday.
Cavalli complained of neck pain after the incident and was taken to a hospital in Cremona. She was hospitalized for 24 hours to monitor her progress.
FD-SUEZ confirmed in a medical update on Saturday that Cavalli has no fractures and will continue to be supported in her recovery.
"Yesterday, Marta Cavalli was involved in a car accident while cycling with friends in Italy. [Fortunately, after 24 hours of observation at the hospital, she was diagnosed with no broken bones.
"The whole team is rooting for her!"
Cavalli was initially reported to have been hit by a car at a roundabout while riding with another person in the Pizzighettoone area.
Il Giorno reported that the two cyclists were riding in broad daylight on State Route 234 when the crash occurred. The cause of the accident is under investigation. The passenger was not struck by the car and was not injured.
Cavalli was involved in a horrific accident at the 2022 Tour de France Femme, suffering head and lower body trauma and a long recovery.
He returned to racing in early 2023, but was forced to leave the race in the spring due to the after-effects of the crash.
Later in the season, he won the CIC-Tour Féminin International des Pyrénées and the Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l'Ardèche.
Cavalli only competed in four events, retiring after two stages at La Vuelta Femenina in April for health reasons. She will not compete in the next Giro d'Italia women's race.
