DSM-Filmenig Post NL Announces Stage Hunting Team for Romain Bardet's Final Tour de France

DSM-Filmenig Post NL has announced its eight registered riders for the upcoming Tour de France. Sprinter Fabio Jacobsen and climber Romain Bardet are the main riders chasing stage wins.

It has been a tough season for Jacobsen, a former Tour stage winner who moved from Soudal-Quick Step at the end of 2023, with only one win in 2024.

His Grand Tour debut with DSM-Filmenig-Post NL ended poorly at the Giro d'Italia last month, eventually crashing on stage 11 and abandoning the race.

"I am really excited to be taking on my first Tour de France with Team dsm-Filmenig-Post NL. I'm going into the race with a really strong group that will be able to challenge for stage wins on any terrain. I have riders around me who can go for the sprint stages, but I also have Warren, Franck, Oscar, and Romain, all of whom are strong on the hills and mountain stages," Jacobsen said in a team release. [We aim to show strong teamwork and really fight for each other. We can't wait to get started."

Leading Jacobsen, 27, in the six to seven sprint opportunities will be the experienced John Degenkolb, who also has a stage win at the 2018 Tour, debutant Bram Welten, and Nils Eekhoff, who is returning for his fourth Tour.

Bardet, a two-time Tour de France podium finisher, will be competing in his 11th and final Grand Tour after announcing last week that he will retire from road racing after next year's Criterium du Dauphiné.

Bardet will not be aiming for GC, but for a stage win. He will be supported on the climbs by two-time Tour stage winner and KOM jersey winner Warren Barguil, Tour debutant Frank van den Broeck, and Oscar Only.

"This year, we're just focused on getting results, whether it's sprint finishes, mountains, and all the ups and downs in between," said coach Matt Winston.

"With the right stages and the right circumstances, I believe everyone on the team can play a role in the finale. We need to show good teamwork from the start because we expect a hard start on the Italian climb.
