The Belgian Cycling Federation has finalized its Olympic elite men's road race and time trial squads.

Tiesj Benoot and Jasper Stuyven will also compete in the Belgian road race, while Evenepoel and Van Aert will be in the foursome.

Belgium also announced four reserve riders in alphabetical order. They are Arnaud De Lier, Yves Lampert, Jasper Philipsen, and Tim Wellens. [Sven Vanhollenhout told the media, including Sporza.be, at a press conference on Tuesday, "Four is not that many, especially considering all the options we have in Belgium. But I am confident we can go to Paris with a very strong and experienced team." Our goal is medals."

Van Hollenhout noted that Van Aert and Evenpool have won eight road race medals at the international, continental, and Olympic levels, while Steuben and Benoot are both all-rounders with long support experience

"They are both all-rounders with a lot of support experience.

"They are also important to the federation. They are always there at the key moments and they are the athletes who know what it means to win the big races," said Vanhollenhout, who added that Stuyven will be in Milan-San Remo in 2021 and Benoot will be in Strade Bianche in 2018 and 2023, respectively, and He noted that they won in the Cune Brussel Cune.

In addition, Evenpoel and Van Aert's achievements in the One Day Classic and Road World Championships - the latter alone, Evenpoel has won the rainbow jersey at both junior and senior level in both road and TT events.

"We have great confidence in them. Our goal is to win a medal and we want to do it with one of these four," Vanthourenhout said.

Belgium has one less rider than Tokyo, but Vanthourenhout also added, "The Olympic road race is special anyway; it's not a lot for a 270-km race, and we've got a lot more to do.

"Moreover, that peloton does not include all of the many European countries at the national level."

"It's going to be a very difficult race tactically," says Vanhollenhout. 'So the teams need a lot of experience, which we have. The circuit is not flat, but a difficult course with two cobbled climbs. It's a tough classic course."

The elite women's and men's time trial will take place on July 27, followed a week later by the elite men's road race on Saturday, August 3, and the elite women's road race on Sunday, August 4. At the same press conference, the Belgian federation selected MTB national champions Jens Schumans and Pierre de Froide-Mont for the men's competition in Paris and Emmeline Detieux for the women's competition. Meanwhile, in BMX, Ruben Gommers and Elke Vanhoof will represent Belgium at the Paris Games in their respective categories.

The Belgian women's road lineup for Paris will be announced on July 6.
