Tymen Arendsman will remain with the Ineos Grenadiers for three more seasons after signing a contract through the end of 2027.
The Dutchman had been rumored to be on his way out of the Ineos in recent months, but the team announced Friday morning that he had agreed to a contract extension. Allenman joined the Ineos from DSM before the 2023 season.
"I'm really happy to extend my contract with Ineos and it was a very easy decision for me. I have great people around me who understand my body and help me get the most out of it." I know that mentally and physically, I perform better when I am stable, so I am very happy to know that this will be my home for the next three years."
Allenman has finished sixth overall in the last two Giro d'Italia, both times racing with Geraint Thomas on the podium. He has also He started last year's Vuelta a EspaƱa, but was forced to abandon the race after a crash in the opening week.
With the DSM, he finished fifth overall in the 2022 Vuelta and won a stage to the Sierra Nevada.
The 24-year-old was not part of the Ineos team for the Tour de France, leaving Florence with Carlos Rodriguez and Eoghan Bernal as leaders behind Geraint Thomas and Tom Pidcock. Ineos performance director Scott Drewer suggested that Allenman could become the team's leader in future Grand Tours.
"He is eager to learn, dedicated, ambitious, and wants to push himself to one day be on the podium in a Grand Tour. We are all excited to continue to support Taimen and help him reach his full potential and see what he can do."
