Fikik has launched a new service called One-to-One that custom 3D prints one of its adaptive saddle models to suit you perfectly. It is available in a range of saddle bases with carbon or kium alloy rails.

Many riders find it difficult to be comfortable with even the best bike saddles. Bike fit can sort out the many causes of discomfort and cycling injuries and suggest a new saddle for you, but until now it has been limited to ready-made ones on the market. You're going to be sitting in your saddle for hours at the end, so getting it right is essential.

The new one-on-one service looks to address this by providing a custom 3D printed saddle to suit your anatomy, bike setup, riding position and the type of riding you do, whether it is on the road, on gravel, mountain bike, or on the road. This is the best app I've ever used. 

The One-to-One uses one of Fizik's existing adaptive 3D printed saddle models as a starting point and forms a top surface to meet individual needs.

Here's how it works:

First, a Fizik dealer with a one-on-one system, lai to a wahoo Kickr Rollr trainer while riding your bike This means they are the most compatible non-custom adaptive bike for you and your riding style. It allows you to choose the shape of the saddle that you want.

They can mount this saddle on your bike and use pressure mapping to see how it interacts with the saddle across 64 touch points at different positions, identifying pelvic tilt, asymmetry, instability and pressure hotspots.

Fizik uses a saddle pressure mapping system developed by gebioMized, which is the most widely used system by professional bicycle fitter, and has been researching and testing the system in cooperation with the company, stating that it took 3 years to develop.

The one-to-one service automates the analysis of data to design a 3D printed saddle top structure that best suits your needs. You choose between carbon or kium rail, then Fizik will produce your unique saddle and ship to you.

You can go back to the dealer later to see how the new pressure distribution compares to the first saddle fit.

While 3D printing has the advantage that it can be used to produce one-off parts over traditional manufacturing techniques, manufacturing standard padded saddles requires the use of mass manufacturing techniques that use large quantities of standardized parts. 

It has already found its way to a range of other components, as well as champaign pads and helmets, and even a complete bike frame. This service is available for an additional fee in addition to the standard price of the selected adaptive saddle model. It puts the starting price for a one-to-one R3 adaptive saddle on the Kium rail at £459/5 499/€459 and the R1 Carbon Rail saddle is priced at £499/5 599/€499.
