Trek teases a secret "invisible" new gravel bike in the wake of not bound

This year's mud and dust are slowly settling down after a great race weekend at Unbound Gravel2024.

The race there provides a pile of new and interesting gravel technologies, products and hacks to deal with challenging routes. Along with the custom-painted Factor Ostro, Canary Yellow Cornago G4-Xs brace, three felt gravel race bikes, a step for you to enjoy

One of the bikes we almost missed was some sneaky series teased online by the brand itself.1 It's something that looks like the new Trek Checkpoint gravel rig that appeared in the shot.

I don't know if this bike will be a checkpoint or a completely new model. Many brands have multiple gravel bikes in their lineup, with racy models alongside more adventure-friendly models. Trek only has a checkpoint as a dedicated gravel bike, alongside Booncyclocross bike and Domane All Road Bike.

Trek also has a new road bike in the works, and let's not assume anything here, with the name of that bike in mind that we are rumored to suggest that it will be a merger of Madone and Emonda.

The details of the new gravel bike are rarer than the road bike, but I think it's safe to say that the new bike is in progress, perhaps along with the new integrated carbon fiber handlebar and stem, and Bontrager gravel tires. From what can be made from online snooping.

@trekbikes Instagram account posted the following: Turning off a new bike and pretending it's not is 1 way to create a little forward-looking chat ahead of the release of a new bike.

However, we were able to find some sneaky shots, courtesy of the official Unbound press photo,そしてMAAP.CC The Instagram account, showing the new bikes under racers Russell Finsterwald and Haley Hunter Smith, both who raced for the Trek Drifting Gravel race team.

The bikes raced by Finsterwald (and possibly several other athletes) were an integrated unit with a topper mast found in the existing top-level checkpoint SLR.

It looked as if Isospeed had been redesigned, with a single pivot point just in front of the seat post. There is a seat tube deeper than the seat post that sits inside it Interestingly, the down tube storage box seems to have disappeared. Will this be a race-focused, parade-back model?

It also appears to have a top tube mount for the bag that the existing bike has, and a carbon integrated handlebar that is envisioned from the Bontrager component family.

Keep an eye out for more details, see if Trek will tell you more in the meantime, and update this story when you find out more.
