Dutch cyclist Femke de Vries shows that the Visma-Lease A Bike scooped up the 30-year-old mid-season while racing in the Continental team GT Krush Rebellease. De Breeze started cycling at the age of 23 after his uncle lent him a road bike and has been racing with the Continental team since the beginning of 2022. By 2023 she will be on the podium in the uci race, ranked 2.1 in the final stage of the Baloise Ladies Tour, ranked 2nd in the last month, ranked 2.2 in the Tour de Feminine, ranked 2nd in the overall, and ranked 2nd and 3rd in stages 2 and 3, respectively.
"Sometimes chances come along that you just can't pass." That's why we signed Femke.Team Manager Rutger Tijssen said in a statement announcing the signing.
"Femke has grown so much as a rider this year that she caught our eye. We've now brought her to the middle of the season, giving her the time and space to get used to WorldTour levels and the opportunity to grow here. She brings a balance of age and experience to the team. We also see a lot of her possibilities for stage racing and climbing."
This new WorldTour rider, currently working as a doctor, will join the team where Marianne Vos is the driving force behind the results tally. In the women's World Tour of the 2024/1 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, then 19・year・old Rosita Reinhout marked the first time in the team's victory count. Riejanne Markus also gave the team 2nd place on the overall podium at La Vuelta Femenina, with a solo victory in Veenendaal-Veenendaal Classic.
"It's exciting because it's a big step. I look forward to working as a particularly close team and pushing each other both on and off the bikes," De Vries said. "I'm good at long efforts, but my acceleration could probably improve. I mainly have process goals because I want to get better every day."
