Leonard Kämna make "great progress" following serious training crash

According to his Bora-Hansgrohe team, Lennardkämna has made "significant progress" in recovering from injuries suffered in the 4-month training crash.

Kämna crashed violently in Tenerife on 4/4 when the oncoming driver turned into his lane and collided with him. The Germans maintained what his team described as "a lot of injuries, especially to his chest.""He will first be treated in the intensive care unit and he will spend almost a month in a hospital in Tenerife.

After being discharged on 5/1, Kämna traveled to Hamburg and continued his rehabilitation at Bg Klinikum.

In a statement on Wednesday, Bora-Hansgrohe reported that Kämna completed this stage of his rehabilitation program at the end of the 5th month.

"The emotional milestone at this stage was that he returned to his bike," read a statement from Bora-Hansgrohe. "44 days after the accident in Tenerife, Lennard Kämna was able to ride again to his specialty for the first time - for a short test of the rollers."

The winner of the stage in all three grand tours, Kämna this week, a Red Bull athlete performance near Salzburg in Austria for the next stage of his recovery No date has yet been set for him to return to the competition. The 27-year-old was scheduled to compete in the Giro d'Italia alongside Daniel Martinez, but eventually reached No. 2 overall.

"The program in the coming weeks will include testing, physiotherapy and training sessions," says Bora-Hansgrohe.

The team will be rebranded as Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe prior to the Tour de France, with an official launch to be held in Salzburg on the 26th, three days before the Grand Départ.
