Aleksandr Vlasov will remain at Bora-Hansgrohe in 2025 after signing an extension of the contract with the team. The term of the new contract is not publicly disclosed.
The Russians are in season 2022 with Bora Hansgrohe, who joined from Astana ahead of the 3rd campaign. Astana had reportedly expressed interest in re-signing Vlasov in 2025, but it was clear from the spring that he could continue to be placed.
"I am very happy with the extension of the contract. I have grown as a rider in the past few years," Vlasov said in a statement released by the team on Thursday. "I feel very good at Bora–Hansgrohe and it's a nice atmosphere combined with a professional work ethic. So, I am happy to stay and continue to develop."
Vlasov won the Tour de France in his first season with Bora Hansgrohe and was ranked 5th overall in the Tour de France and 7th overall in last year's Vuelta a España. At the 2021 Giro d'Italia, he was showing off his potential for a grand tour in Astana.
This season, Vlasov has won the Paris-Nice stage and is ranked second overall in the Tour de Romandy. The 27-year-old is currently active in the Critérium du Dauphiné and he is expected to ride on the tour with the service of the new arrival Primoš Roglić.
The team plans to rename it as Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe ahead of the Grand Department Store in Florence. Vlasov is the 2nd high-profile rider to have extended his contract with Ralph Denk's team in recent weeks after confirming that Jai Hindley will stay on the spot next season.
"The arrival of Red Bull is a very interesting project for me and I am grateful that the team believes in me," Vlasov said. "I am ready to do my best in the coming years.”
