Spotting: Renee Martinez's new Willie Race Bike

Lenny Martinez won yesterday at the Mercantur Classic Alp Maritime with what looked like a Wilier race bike not yet known.

The French rider rides in a predominantly black Wilier frame that we do not recognize, and the bike is clearly different when compared to his disengagement partner Clement Berte (Decathlon AG2R La Mo other group Ama・FDJ team bike.

The case that this is a brand new bike has been greatly enhanced thanks to Wilier Triestina's Instagram post quoting the "drop" day of 6/25. There is also a Twitter/X post with some photos of the bike.

Based on this post from the brand, we are quite confident that we can expect the brand new road model to be unveiled by Willier towards the end of the 6th month. In time for the Tour de France.

The run-up to the Tour de France and Dauphin has been prime time for new bikes and equipment to emerge over the past few years. We will be prying out at the Critérium du Dauphiné, which starts on Sunday and covers as many new technologies as we can find.

Team riders can choose from the Wilier Zero SLR and Filante SLR road models. The Filante is a more aero-focused bike, while the Zero SLR focuses on light weight.

As you can see from the limited photos, this new bike doesn't look hyper aero and looks like an all-rounder or a lightweight-focused bike. We expect it to replace zero SLR, but it might sit with it.

One of the most obvious points is that there is no top tube/seat tube "step" present in the zero model.1 The new bike also has wider fork legs, slightly dropped seat stays, different profile chain stays and top tubes compared to zero all said it looks pretty "normal" compared to some of the more quirky designs on the market.

Apart from some of the differences in frame design, Martinez is a seemingly stock team build of what appears to be a dura-Ace Di2 group set and wheel build, Continental GP5000 tires, Prologo saddle and bar tape, Wilier Fialnte integrated handlebar and stem unit. Was riding a built bike.

The frame features the Wilier logo, but the black frame has many white details, similar to the design used by BMC to draw the eye from the key features of the bike, which it unpublished last year.
