Indoor training platform Rouvy deployed some interesting subscription updates and options. This change allows users to suspend their subscription for up to 180 days per year. You can still ride up to 20km for free while your Rouvy subscription is suspended, and you can also ride up to three days a day without unpausing it
For beginners, Rouvy claims to be the "most realistic indoor cycling app in the world" and allows users to cycle on real-world routes. You can also use the following methods: ***********
Many riders want to ride outdoors when the weather gets better, but prefer to return to turbo and indoor cycling during the winter to maintain fitness. That is, for a few months a year, they are paying a monthly fee for apps they may not use much or may not use at all.
Rouvy now allows users to pause their subscriptions once a calendar year for up to 180 days. You can deactivate a subscription at any time, but you cannot deactivate a subscription again in the same calendar year.
If you're pre-paid for the year, Rouvy offers a new flexible pause option to all users, enabling you to extend your subscription by the number of days it was suspended.
If you're based in the UK, pausing during the summer and expecting to ride only outdoors may be a bold move, especially in this year's weather. So with Rouvy, users can ride for free in the app up to 20km per month while their subscription is suspended.
It would be better under time riding for most users, but beat staring at a brick wall for 45 minutes. If you want to ride longer while your subscription is suspended, you can now also purchase a Daily pass. The price is 2.99 hours at wet 24, 3 hours at 3.99, 48 hours at 7 or 4.99 hours at 72 – enough to see you through a wet spell.
Even if you terminate your subscription, Rouvy will still be able to ride up to 20km per month for free. Access to features is limited, so you can't participate in races or group rides without an active subscription, but Rouvy believes it could entice riders to the platform where the option to try out the new features has expired.
Rouvy's new subscription model can make the platform significantly cheaper than its competitors for cyclists who prefer to be outdoors when the weather and sunlight are good. Zwift recently raised its subscription price by a third and now costs month17.99/£17.99 a month. €14.99 per month is the cost of a single-user Rouvy subscription.
Suspend your Rouvy subscription for six months during the summer and you will halve it, but the annual subscription will cost the equivalent of 12.42/€12.42 per month, with discounts available for renewal. But there is still a cheaper option – MyWhoosh is free to use.
