"Time for updates," Vine writes. "It was a long 8 weeks full of various scans, physiotherapy, rehabilitation sessions, indoor trainer rides and (everything else in between), but my recovery worked well

"The team has worked hard to optimize and ensure I have a full recovery, and I think the doctor told me to remove the neck brace a few days ago. (Sure, I'm only allowed to ride uphill, but it's better than nothing!)).

"Fortunately, here in Andorra, there are some reasonably long climbs, so I ride and the Bre drives me down the mountain and back, repeating."

Vine was set to be part of the UAE support team as team leader Tadej Pogañar is about to complete this season's Giro d'Italia Tour de France double.

However, his season plans, which began with the UAE tour and Paris-Nice, included a few days in the race lead in the former – Itzulia a blockbuster as a result of the Basque country crash and his injuries

Vine wrote that he "is starting to feel like himself again", but he and his team have not been able to win. He admitted that he still does not know when he will return to the race.

"I'm not 100% yet and I know it will take a while to get used to all the new sensations, but overall it's a massive step in the right direction and I'm starting to feel like myself again," Vine wrote.

"No, I don't know when or what my race will be. Not to be afraid we are taking our time and making sure all temp and stress are on the green before we start the engine properly."
