Stephen Delcourt, team manager at Fdj-Suez, dropped another hint that Demi Volling could join the French women's World Tour team in 2025, revealing in an interview with French newspaper L'Equipe that he plans to increase the team's budget by 4% over the next 20 years.
Title Sponsors FDJ and Suez are set to continue to fund the team despite interest from other sponsors, the roster changes said Sessi
"Our budget is €4,000,000 but I think it will be higher than my forecast at the beginning of the year due to the cost exploding "I'm not sure if it's going to happen," Delcourt told L'Equipe.
"These needs will require significant growth in the future. The goal is to aim for an annual increase of 2028 by 15-20% of the budget. Our budget has already increased quadruple in five years."
Delcourt avoided denying reports that Bollering could join the fdj-Suez and cited the link as an indication of the team's strength.
"The rumors linking Demi Volarling and FDJ-Suez only confirm the viability of the team's project, which has been implemented since 2006 and has been built on hard work and humility over the years," the team recently told Cyclingnews.
"Demi Volarling is a huge champion. At the age of 27, she has already added the biggest races ・ the Tour de France, the Ardennes, the Vuelta and the Strade Bianche ・ to her list of achievements," Delcourt told Lequipe.
"Big-name cyclists who share these ambitions will stick with us. Each cyclist must also be able to follow the team's human and ethical projects. Having some leaders is in the team's DNA and doesn't scare us."
Bollering is at the heart of the huge women's transfer season and Elisa Longo Borghini has also terminated his contract from Lidl-Trek and Kasia Niewiadoma at the end of 2024.
Bollering was isolated at SD Worx as Lotte Kopecky and Lorena Weave stayed in the team and took over the leadership. But Vollering is set to defend the women's victory of the Tour de France this summer after the Paris Olympics. Due to her stage racing talent and recent success, she is reportedly valued at close to 100 million euros per season.
Under UCI rules, a rider's transfer cannot be finalized until the official transfer period from 8/1 to 12/31. But team managers, riders, and their agents are now busy working on the details.
Cavalli and Uttrup Ludwig have terminated their contracts with FDJ-SUEZ, while Évita Muzic has extended their contracts until 2027.
"Malta was the victim of a serious accident during the 2022 tour, and after 22 months, she still has the aftereffects. I have only one priority: to be the best support for her," Delcourt said.
"Cecily had a complicated start to the season. Now the aim is to regain her status as the world's top 10 riders. Whether it's the Olympics, the Tour de France or the World Championships in Zurich, she should be in good shape for her goals this summer.
"We cannot keep cyclists at any cost. If they have a higher offer than what I can offer, I forbid them to judge because their careers are short.
"Grace Brown has her destiny in her hands," Delcourt said of the winner of Liège・Bastogne・Liège・Femme.
"If she wants to continue, she will continue with us, and I hope we can find an agreement. It's unimaginable to see her wearing a different jersey.
"Evita is a symbol of our team. She arrived very young in 2018, but she is progressing every year with great humility. She is a French rider who is not afraid to shine internationally. But Evita's goal is not to become the first tricolor in France. It's just about being the best."
Delcourt has set some high ambitions for the next four years. "The team wants to win 5 big tours and 6 big classics in the next 3 years," he revealed.
"Our project is ambitious. We had the first cycle between 2020 and 2023, it was to settle on the World Tour with an increase in the number of victories. Now we are nearing the 2024-2028 cycle and are setting targets for a super-ambitious world tour. We have no limits, we want to check off the biggest races.”
