Gérard Thomas' final grand Tour GC performance was held at Giro d'Italia.

Geraint Thomas and his Ineos Grenadier teammates celebrated the success of the Giro d'Italia in the shadow of the Colosseum in Rome on Sunday.

"I've told a lot of people that this is the last time they race for GC. But give it a week and I'll probably start thinking about something else," said Thomas, the fatigue and emotion of riding the 20th grand Tour and taking the 5th podium spot that can be seen.

"I really don't know. I rest, go on tour, help the boys there, go on stage and evaluate for the future.

"I'm actually looking forward to it. It's a big challenge. I will stay off the beer and stay on it after refreshing and enjoying tonight.

Thomas finished in 3rd place after Tadezipoganyal (UAE Team Emirates) and Dani Martinez (Bora Hansgrohe), after another stubborn exhibition of Grand Tour racing last year, he won second place after Primoš Logric, Slovenia's snatching victory in the final mountain time trial. It was. In this year, Poganyar was on another planet, and Thomas raced with Martinez to win the podium.

"I really enjoyed it. We had a good group of guys. It's actually getting really fast, but it's like a lifetime ago when we started in Turin," Thomas said.

"It's a bit like Deja Vu. It's weird because I was third this year and I'm probably happier than last year this time I was second. That's because of the way it went.

"In both cases, you can be proud of how you and your team committed to it and did everything you could. We were just beaten by Pogañar, who is on another level. Danny got on more consistently and got better throughout the three weeks. We can be happy and proud of how we committed and did our best.

Thomas celebrated his 38th birthday on the last mountain stage on Saturday in Montegrappa but when he fought to defend the podium, it suffered

"I think it's a proud day because yesterday was so bad. It was just such a mental game," Thomas explained.

"Sometimes I felt like I was hitting my head against a brick wall. I wouldn't say it was fun, but it was probably the day I was most proud of. Now it's over, the most fun bit."
