Demi Volering Announces Personal Partnership Agreement with Nike

Demi Volering has signed a personal sponsorship deal with Nike, joining Mark Cavendish, Letizia Paternoster, and Ineos Grenadier rider and triathlete Cameron Waugh, who have similar deals with the US-based sportswear brand.

Nike is a member of the team.

Nike does not currently manufacture cycling products, but Cavendish and Wolff wear shoes with a prominent Nike swoosh. Volering is under contract with SD Volks Pro Time through 2025 and currently uses Specialized shoes, but could possibly switch to Nike if he decides to move to FDJ-Suez.

Vollering won the 2023 Tour de France Femme and dominated the classics. Wout Van Aert, Tom Pidcock, Zoe Backstedt, and Anton Palzer are all Red Bull athletes. Nike may want Vollering to take on a similar ambassadorial role as women's cycling continues to develop.

The Dutchwoman suggested that Nike could help her "pursue her dreams and goals for the next few years."

Volering posted a photo of herself wearing a Michael Jordan jacket and signing a contract, the only tag on the post to the Nike Women Instagram account.

"I recognize my role in women's cycling and women's sports in general and the opportunities it presents," she added in an Instagram post announcing her signing with Nike. [With Nike, I can achieve a common goal and effectively spread my message. I want to inspire many people to start moving and together we can make our dreams come true."

"I want to thank everyone around me and my partners for believing in me and supporting me in my journey so far. A special shout out to my beloved @j_dvoogd (Jan de Vogue), who also happens to be my agent, for always encouraging and supporting me in pursuing my dreams."

Volering has yet to win a race in 2024, but she competed in the Vuelta EspaƱa Femenina, where SD Works-Pro Time placed third in the opening time trial on Sunday. She will return to the Tour de France femme in August to defend the yellow jersey, while teammate and fellow team leader Lotte Kopecky will focus on the Giro d'Italia women and the Paris Olympics track events.
