New Cervelo Aspero gravel bike with less drag, more clearance and threaded BB

Cervelo has unveiled a new version of its Aspero gravel bike. The brand said the updated model stays true to the early, simpler days of gravel, while acknowledging the growth and changes in gravel bikes since the Aspero was introduced in 2019, with several improvements.

So what's new, the new Aspero frame has undergone several frame changes that are said to add compliance, reduce weight by 32 grams, and reduce drag by 3 watts. It also features a BBRight T47 Threaded bottom bracket, improved cable routing, and UDH-compatible derailleur hangers.

The new frame's seatstays have been lowered and the chainstays lengthened by 5 mm. Front end stiffness also appears to have been reduced "to make the last few hours of a long race less painful. At the front, Aspero uses the same bearing dimensions as the R5, Soloist, R5-CX, and Caledonia, which means riders can easily swap bearings in the top cap and stem if they want a racier setup, the brand says. The move should help Cervelo stockists and owners alike.

Improved frame clearance. According to Cervelo, the Aspero will clear 45mm tires per ISO standards; ISO standards require 4mm clearance between the tire and the frame itself. According to Cervelo, Aspero is designed around 42mm tires, which adds 3mm of clearance to the ISO requirement.

According to Cervelo, these have resulted in a bike that feels like the original Aspero, but is faster, more comfortable, and more versatile.

Six different build options and framesets will be available. Prices range from $3,200 to $5,500 and include Shimano and Sram mechanical and electronic components, and each bike comes with a Smartpak top tube storage bag. Framesets are $2,500. Details and geometry are as follows.
