Few things are certain in the world of professional cycling, but the annual EF Education Giro d'Italia switching kit is one of them.
Because of the annual clash between the Giro d'Italia race leader's pink jersey and the team's hot pink variation, U.S.-registered teams are required to change colors for the Italian Grand Tour for men and women.
Last year, the teams were treated to a stunning patchwork design made from scraps, but nothing could match the uproar caused by the Rapha X Palace collaboration for the 2020 edition of the Corsa Rosa.
"In Italy, the pink cycling jersey is reserved for only one Giro d'Italia leader during the months of May and July.
"Our 2024 Giro Changeout Kit is a tribute to Italian bike racing culture. We have changed from bright pink to a classy black strip with a yellow and pink emblem honoring Italy, the home country of this beautiful and brutal race."[9
The 2024 changeout kit is more modest than in previous years.
It looks just like the 2024 team's standard pink kit, only with swapped colors. But that's not all. The text and graphics, usually painted in low-contrast yellow on the standard kit, are here painted in embossed pink, and the wording has been changed to a distinctly Italian turn of phrase.
According to Rapha's Instagram post, "This 2024 edition reimagines 'Italian' phrases like Vai, In Bocca al Lupo, PIZZA PASTA SCALA FASTA. Che bella!" .
The kit will soon be available in aero jerseys for pro teams and training jerseys for pro teams for both men and women.
The kit will be used for both men's and women's EF teams, so we will see it again at the start of the women's Giro d'Italia in July.
