The US Cyclocross Cross Series (USCX) will add two Trek CX Cup events to its eight-race lineup this fall, and organizers have chosen Trek Bicycle as the title sponsor. After four years as "Trek USCX," the four events will be held on consecutive weekends compacted together and will culminate in a new finale in Waterloo, Wisconsin on October 5-6, 2024.
Three of the events in the lineup have been USCX staples since the inaugural year in 2021, with the season opener again taking place on September 14-15 at GO Cross in Roanoke, Virginia. This will be followed by the Rochester Cyclocross in upstate New York on September 21-22, and the Charm City Cross in Baltimore, Maryland on September 28-29. [Scott Page, co-owner and series director of Full Moon Vista, which operates the Rochester Cyclocross, said, "We are thrilled that Waterloo will be the final race in our series and are very We are very grateful."
While the Trek CX Cup was part of a weekend centered around a UCI Cyclocross World Cup event, Waterloo was not on the recently announced 2024-2025 World Cup Series calendar. The final weekend of the Trek USCX will be themed "Battle among the Cattle."
Last year there was a four-week break between the final races in Charm City and the Really Rad Festival of Cyclocross in Falmouth, MA. Organizers said they hope the new format of consecutive weekends will "encourage more European athletes to participate in the series." It will also allow North American riders to complete the series if they are competing in Europe in time for the World Cup schedule, which kicks off on November 24 in Antwerp, Belgium. [For example, Belgian rider Vincent Vestance (Spitz CX) led the men's standings for the past three years before returning to Europe. He was third overall his first two years and second last season behind men's winner Curtis White (Steve Tilford Foundation Racing).
Page confirmed to Cycling News that Trek USCX will again offer $15,000 in total prize money for the elite race, equally split between men and women. All events will feature a UCI-registered race for elite riders, C1 on Saturday and C2 on Sunday, as well as an amateur event.
Last year, White won the USCX men's race for the second year. Magaly Rochette (Canyon Collective) won all eight events to take the USCX women's title.
