Dylan van Baar, winner of Paris-Roubaix in 2022, will not participate in the 2024 race.

Visma-Lease A Bike's Roller Coaster Classic season ended Sunday morning with the announcement that 2022 winner Dylan van Baarle is DNS.

The team confirmed via social media that the 31-year-old Dutch national champion will miss the race due to illness.

Van Baarle's non-participation was a major blow to Visma Lease-a-Bike's classic campaign, which was abandoned after Wout Van Aert's unfortunate crash at Doir Door Hlaanderen, where he suffered serious injuries.

American Matteo Jorgenson took a well-deserved victory in the race, but was unable to compete in Paris-Roubaix.

Jorgenson's absence was again boosted, at least partially, by the news that French Classics champion and former Gent-Wevelgem winner Christophe Laporte would return to Roubaix. But the roller coaster ride continued for Visma on Sunday morning when Van Baar dropped out of the lineup at the last minute.

Van Baar himself had already missed the Dwarte der Vlaanderen due to illness, and he was also on the back foot at the Tour of Flanders, suffering from cold weather. He was eager to compete in Paris-Roubaix, but was finally DNS.
