Chloe Diggert returns to the Peloton in the Spring Classic after an early season injury.
Chloé Dygert has recovered from an early season injury and will start racing in the Classic Brugge-De Panne with Canyon-SRAM on Thursday.

Dygart, Reigning Road and Time Trial US Champion and Time Trial World Champion, was originally expected to start her season in the under-and-under and Cadel Evans Road race down the tour, but the team made a trip to Australia for what they called "minor injuries." I did not.

"There was a minor setback in the 12 months that delayed the start to the 2024 race. In the end, it was a hidden blessing. It gave me a better lead to my key goals this season," Dygert said in the team's press release.

"So I'm happy with the progress to this point. I'm excited to pin the number on my back again. It's always hard to determine your fitness level until you're actually competing. Now I am grateful to be healthy and have the ability to race.

Dygert did not travel to Australia for early-season races and instead took time to recover from injuries and attended training camps in Spain.

She will compete in 4 classic events during her 1 year tenure with Canyon Shrum and will be riding the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in 2022. However, she ended up suffering leg pain after that race and has since recovered 14 months from a variety of health problems, including follow-up treatment for injuries sustained in a major crash at the 2020 World Championships, Epstein-Barr virus and heart surgery to treat long-standing tachycardia problems.

Back to full-time racing Last year, Digert started the season at the Vuelta a Femenina on May 5, winning 3 podiums. He also won 4th overall in the Vuelta a Burgos, 2nd overall in Ride London, Road and time Trial titles in the US Professional Championships, podium in the Giro d'Italia and world time Trial titles in Glasgow.

Dygert will now make her debut for the season with the classic Brugge-De Panne, where she will line up with Zoe Bäckstedt, Justyna Czapla, Agnieszka Skalniak-Sójka, Alice Towers and Maike van der Duin.

She expects the race to be challenging even without SD Worx-Protime, who withdrew from the race due to multiple rider injuries.

"Depane is a windy race and we know that a sprint or solo attack can win. It's going to be a different race, even if the parcours are the same, because SD Worx isn't participating," Dygert said.

"It will be interesting to see how the day plays out. The harder the race is, the better for me. In the end, we are here to win and do whatever we can to work as a team to win the race."

The team has two major cards to play with Dygert and Van der Duin, who finished third place in both Rondo van Drente and Ghent-Wevergem, and brugge・De Panne

Van der Duin will also play in California on May 12. He recovered from an injury that broke his ankle during the team's training camp that took place.

"It was unclear how long it would take for him to recover after he broke his ankle in early May 12. We made a plan together and I am really grateful to the team around me for helping me during my rehabilitation. I've worked really hard for the past few weeks to come back, and I'm motivated to be on the start line with the team," said Van der Duin

"The weather on Thursday looks pretty good, which means that many different scenarios can happen. We are prepared for all of them. This year's De Panne is my first race of the year and I'm typing it with a blank card. We give 200% as a team to get a win."
