The men's and women's World Tour Peloton is currently in China, racing the Guangxi Tour and Chongming Island Tour stage race, respectively.

The Men's race consists of 6 stages, including finishing on the hill, covering most of Guangxi. The women's race for the sprinters is only three-stage length and takes place only on the islands of Chongming and Changxing at the mouth of the Yangtze River, but the women then travel to Guangxi for a day race on the day of the final stage of the men.

However, the difference in live coverage highlights just how short and varied women's cycling is still.

The tour in Guangxi had been well scheduled for broadcast in advance, but live coverage of the tour in Chongming Island was only confirmed the day before Stage 1, when the race organizers said the final time of the race would be sent live.

This was true for Stage 1, even though the screen turned black several times during coverage due to technical difficulties.

On stage2, it was announced that the broadcast would start at 8:13:05 GMT, China Standard Time (UTC+15), but a combination of technical issues and a slower-than-expected race pushed this back several times in 15 minute increments.

Finally, live coverage only started at 14:02CST, and the race was only 19km from the finish. After 26 minutes, the stage ended, and a further 15 minutes post-stage coverage was added to a total of 41 minutes - under 45 minutes of live coverage per uci's mandatory race day

Coverage began at 52.6 km to go, compared with Stage 2 of the Guangxi tour, in contrast, the stage of the 65 minutes of the race plus shows another 17 minutes after the stage ends.

Both races were produced by the same host broadcaster, as evidenced by both broadcasts using the same layout for on-screen graphics

Just days after the Gravel World Championship broadcast the men's race live, the women's race was not seen anywhere, but this disparity is evident between the men's and women's races in our sport. The New York Times continues to spotlight the inequality between the two sides.
