Remi Cavagna and davide Formolo among the 2024 7 Movistar signings
The Spanish World Tour team will strengthen their 2024 team with Home Nation talent and proven world tour experience, with Remi Cavaña and David Formolo among the 7 new signings created by Movistar this week.

Formolo will be joined by Movistar by his young compatriot Manlio Moro, a 21-year-old truck and road specialist who has become an important part of the Italian team's pursuit team alongside Filippo Ganna and Jonathan Milan.

All the other 4 new members are Spanish and are under the age of 24. Javier Romo, Pelayo Sanchez, Carlos Canal and John Balenetoxea have all moved to Spain's only world Tour team to continue their development.

The Spanish quartet have all signed 2-year contracts with Formolo, Cavagna and Moro and are supposed to show their talent at Movistar until 2026.

Movistar confirmed 12 of its roster for 20 years after previously announcing 2024 contract extensions and 27 team members earlier this month.

Formolo, 30, joined Movistar from behind his first two victories in three years from the Coppa Agostoni and the Veneto Classic, Enri on the Grand Tour

"A team like the Movistar Team I think is the ideal place to show riders like myself" and Foro Rumoro said.

"I will not only support the team leader on the grand Tour, but also play an important role in the day race and seeking individual results where the team needs me"

Cavanya said that he is already the national champion of France along with the development of his time trial ability. Leaving Soudal-QuickStep after seven seasons with the Belgian team, with the spring classic as a big goal to chase.

"It's a new challenge - after seven years in a quick step I enjoyed and learned a lot from, I will do something to reach my maximum potential

" Like Qst, joining the Movistar team feels like being part of the history of cycling and is a part of many big networks. This is the first time I've ever seen a woman in my life who has never seen a woman in my life.

"I'm really proud to be part of this team and I'm also happy to be hungry and bring my value. I certainly want to win, but I also enjoy helping everyone achieve great success and build something together."

Sanchez, Canal and Barrenetxea all move from the Spanish Protème to the World Tour after showing consistent performance in breakaway and all-round ability across terrain and parcours.

Sanchez was especially a revelation in the Vuelta a España, finishing 11th in the top 20 in stages 6 and 2, and 1st in one of the most difficult stages just behind the GC favorite, above La Cruz de Linares in 14th place.

"When you become a pro, jumping towards a world tour is always a goal in itself and being able to participate in home WT costumes is a privilege," Sánchez

Canal shared the same sentiment and joined the Movistar team after riding the Euskaltel-Euskadi for the past 2 seasons. "The dream will come true," he explained.

"It's a reference both in Spain and abroad, and taking a step towards the top category with them is the perfect combination," Canal said. "Young riders like me have always dreamed of making part of the ultimate Spanish team.

Romo joined from Astana Kazakhstan and made a breakthrough on the World Tour in 2021 after winning the U23 Road Race at the Spanish National Championship. His 2023 season was plagued by crashes and injuries from the Italia Basque Country and the Vuelta, but he showed great signs at the Vuelta a Burgos and was ranked 7th overall after the likes of Primos Rogic (Jumbo Visma) and Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates). It's over.
