Mohoric misses out on his second stage win in the Tour de Pollogne.

Momentary decisions, summit battles, and close victories have been common lately in Matej Mohoric's cycling career, and Monday's stage finish at Dusiniki Zdroj in the Tour de Pollogne was no exception.

Mohoretch (Bahrain Victorious) finished a close second to Rafal Mayka of UAE Team Emirates, who led the peloton after being separated from the pack late in the climb and then gained speed on the summit to win the group sprint. Mohoretz retained his overall lead.

But after winning a stage by less than a tire's length from Caspar Asgreen (Sourdal-Quick Step) at the Tour de France 10 days earlier, and a lengthy duel with Joan Almeida (UAE Team Emirates) at the Tour de Pologne on Sunday, the two After winning the showdown, Mohoric was narrowly defeated by Majka 24 hours later, leaving the Slovenian once again in contention for a top-level victory.

"My goal today was to try for another stage win. But in the final sprint I was disappointed with myself because I hesitated to take first place at the last corner." [A split-second decision left me with a small gap. I tried to pass on the left side, but it was unlucky. I had to slow down and then speed up again because there was a chance I could get blocked on the left side.

There were some comments about Majka's line choice in the final three-way sprint against Mohoric and Kwiatkowski on stage 3, but the commissaires found no irregularities in Majka's maneuvers in the last few meters.

"There was a commissaire in the race and I think they decided that it was not enough to call it suspicious.

Kwiatkowski also denied any cheating in an interview, saying, "Majka had strong legs and there was nothing I could do."

On the plus side for Mohoric, the Slovenian was still the overall leader after the third stage. Mohoric is not optimistic that he will be able to keep his overall lead if he is not able to widen the gap to Almeida in Thursday's time trial. He noted that there is still a chance to widen the gap between the two before Thursday's 16.6km time trial in Katowice.

"It all depends on the day, and on paper it's not quite enough, but if we win a stage on Wednesday and get bonus seconds, we have another chance. I will fight for that first and give it my best in the time trial and see what happens."
