Matteo Trentin, Alberto Dainese, and Michael Stoller will join Tudor Pro Cycling for 2024.
On Wednesday morning, Tudor Procycling announced no fewer than seven new additions for 2024.
Owner Fabian Cancellara said, "I am thrilled. But first and foremost, we are adding some great human players to an already great team."
Former European champion Trentin joins from UAE team Emirates, where he spent the past three seasons. The Italian has won stages in all three Grand Tours and finished second at the 2019 World Championships in Yorkshire. He will lead the Italian team alongside Alberto Bettiol at the Glasgow World Championships on Sunday.
"I am excited to help this young team with my experience over the next three years and compete for great results in the biggest bike race in the world," said the 34-year-old Trentin.
Dainese comes to the team after four seasons with Team dsm-firmenich. The Italian sprinter has won the last two Giro d'Italia, and it is believed that team dsm-firmenich is poised to acquire Fabio Jacobsen from Sudar-Quick Step as its lead sprinter for 2024.
The addition of Stoller would greatly expand Tudor's stage racing potential. The 26-year-old Australian won two mountain stages at the 2021 Vuelta a EspaƱa and took the overall win at the Tour de l'Ain that same year. He comes to Tudor after spending two seasons with Groupama-FDJ. Stoller crashed at the finish of the second stage of the Tour de Ain on Tuesday after a collision with winner Cepeda.
Other confirmed signings on Wednesday were Marius Meyerhofer and Florian Storck, who join from Team dsm-Filmenig, Alexander Krieger, who joins from Alpecin Deceuninck, and Tudor's U23 team, promoted from Hannes Wilsch. Meyerhofer won the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race in Australia this year.
Tudor Pro Cycling was promoted to the pro team level in 2023, but at this early stage it deliberately avoided invitations to Grand Tours. In the long term, however, CEO Raphael Mayer indicated that the team's ambition is to be promoted to the World Tour in 2026, when a three-year license becomes available.
"Being able to attract that level of talent means that our approach is working and that our values are shared within the peloton," Meyer said.
"These riders will allow us to compete at the highest level on all terrains, and to attract invitations to World Tour races.
The addition of these new riders brings Tudor's 2024 roster to 27 riders. The team is also rumored to be in the market for sprinter Sam Bennett, whose contract with Bora Hansgrohe expires at the end of the season.
