Canyon Unveils New €20,000 Truck Bike; Chloe Diggart Contributed Significantly to Development
[The bike will be used by Chloe Dygert and her Team USA teammates and Team Denmark at the 2023 UCI World Championships at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow.

Canyon's Speedmax CFR truck is the result of an unparalleled collaboration between world-class engineers and the fastest professional riders and is the fastest bike ever built by the German direct-to-consumer brand, says Canyon.

Cycling News reporter Paul Brett met up with Canyon's Global Communications Manager Ben Hillsdon on Ashton Lane, a famous backstreet in Glasgow's West End, ahead of the World Championships, to hear more about the new bike. We heard more about the new bike.

With Hillsdon were members of Canyon's development team, Team USA, including Chloe Dygert, and Team Denmark, who will ride the bike at the Glasgow World Championships.

At the press presentation, Canyon touted the bike as a masterpiece of engineering and aerodynamics. Every tube profile and every joint on the Speedmax CFR track is finely tuned to cut through the air with unmatched efficiency. He also claimed that the bike gives the ultimate advantage to riders who are looking for speed and can take the rainbow jersey that will be contested in Glasgow.

While introducing the bike, Hillsdon explained that despite the conventional wisdom that the design process begins with the engineering team, development was pro-driven. The process began with one of the best, multiple world champion Chloe Dygert, whose input shaped the initial design. Dygert tested numerous prototypes, which were then tested by the Danish National Track Cycling Team.

Speaking to Cycling News, Dygert first shared his feelings and thoughts on the bike before the upcoming championships.

"I feel good, it's been a long road back, but I'm ready to ride. I'm very busy and excited to be here because I'll be competing in the World Championships, the TT track race, and a couple of road races. I'm looking forward to riding this bike. Canyon did a special tartan check paint job for me. I'm proud to be riding this bike and to be a part of the process."

"I'm really looking forward to the race," said Canyon.

The Speedmax CFR track can be used to compete in any track event, eliminating the need to completely change bikes for Pursuit and Mass Start races. In its standard configuration, the bike is optimized for Pursuit competition, with a cockpit that Canyon describes as super aero, guiding the rider into a riding position for precise handling and efficiency. It is also equipped with new disc wheels, developed by Canyon in collaboration with Swiss Side, which are said to be not only aerodynamically efficient but also rigid enough to handle the high forces generated by the velodrome.

In mass start competitions, the riders can replace their standard handlebars with a bunch handlebar kit for optimal control and spoked front wheels.

As Dygert headed out for an early evening, a conversation with Lucas Schuhnig, development leader of the Speedmax CFR truck, followed.

"Velodrome racing is about perfection, every second and every watt counts, and working with professional track cyclists was essential to making the Speedmax CFR track a reality. What kind of bike do you need to win races? Their expertise and feedback made the Speedmax CFR Track the outstanding machine it is today.

"The Canyon Speedmax has won five triathlon world championship titles, which is a good start. But the Speedmax CFR Track is more than just a rehashed triathlon bike.

The Canyon Speedmax CFR Track will also feature high-end components. The premium SRM Origin Track power meter measures precise wattage with an integrated spider sensor, the Kappstein Pro Line Elite chainring boasts incredible stiffness for maximum power transfer, and Canyon's new wheelset includes Canyon's new wheelset is paired with Continental Grand Prix 5000 TT TR tires. It also features Canyon's exclusive full adjustable carbon Pro Extension cockpit system.

The Speedmax CFR Track can be ordered directly from Canyon for £18,999 / €20,000.

With the UCI World Championship races starting today (Thursday), we will soon see the Speedmax CFR Track in action! .
