USA Cycling has announced its road team for the first unified UCI World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, in August.
Nielson Powles (EF Education Easy Post), who currently competes in the Tour de France and is the leader in the mountain class, is the top-ranked member of the elite men's team. Road and time trial national champion Chloe Diggart (Canyon-SRAM) leads the women's team.
Also on the elite men's team is Matteo Jorgenson (Movistar), who rode solo in the Puy de Dome stage of the Tour de France but was caught with 400m remaining in the stage.
Joining him are U.S. road race champion Quinn Simmons (Lidl-Trek), who abandoned the Tour de France with a crash injury, Magnus Sheffield (Ineos Grenadiers), Sean Quinn (EF Education Easy Post), Lawson Craddock (Jayco Alura).
Sheffield and time trial national champion Brandon McNulty, who won stage 15 of the Giro d'Italia, will represent the United States in the time trial.
Dygert will compete in both the time trial and the road race. Veronica Ewers and Lauren Stevens (EF Education-TIBCO-SVB), Colin Labecki (Jumbo-Visma), Megan Justlove (Team dsm-Filmenig), and Heidi Franz (DNA Pro Cycling) in the road race, Skylar Schneider (L39ion of Los Angeles) will participate.
Joining Daigert in the time trial will be Christine Faulkner (Jayco Alura) and two-time world champion Amber Neben.

A total of 32 riders from the USA Cycling road team will participate in the elite, U23, and junior categories at the UCI World Championships in Glasgow from August 3-13.
