Primoš Roglic will miss both the Tour de France and the World Championships.

Primoš Roglic (Jumbo Visma) has announced that he will miss the 2023 Tour de France. He will also miss the World Championships in Scotland and will likely return to racing only at the Vuelta a España, which starts on August 26.

After officially celebrating his Giro d'Italia victory in front of a large crowd in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana, Roglic revealed his plans for the second half of the 2023 season.

"I'm enjoying it. I don't even know how many receptions I'll have. I just want to have fun. I want to give something back to the people," Roglic told RTV Slovenija.

"I'm here to enjoy my victory in the Giro and find new challenges."

The 2020 Tour de France runner-up confirmed his race plan. Jumbo-Visma will be the lone leader and will be aiming for the yellow jersey for the second year in a row with 2022 winner Jonas Vingegaard.

"I won't go to the Tour, but I will most likely go to the Vuelta. The next race will most likely be the Tour de Spain," said Roglic, who last finished third in the Giro and first in the Vuelta in 2019.

"I didn't plan on the Tour de France this year.

Although Roglic often says the Tour de France is his only outstanding Grand Tour goal, Jumbo Visma has Vingegaard as his team leader, and Roglic has crashed and abandoned in the last two Tours. He was asked if he would change teams to try to win the Tour de France.

"The important thing for me is to achieve the goals I still lack.

"At the moment I am getting all the support I want. So I don't think there will be any problems down the road. But if I can't achieve these goals, ......."

Roglic, who won the road race when he last lined up in 2020, will skip this week's Slovenian national championships. The Olympic time trial champion will also pass the road world championships in Glasgow.

"I'm switching off too much right now," Roglic said.
