Current time trial world champion Tobias Foss is leaving Jumbo-Visma at the end of the season, Wieler Fritz (opens in new tab) reported Saturday, citing several unnamed sources.
The 25-year-old Foss was part of the Dutch powerhouse team for the past four seasons. He has won the Tour de l'Avenir, and his victory at the World Time Trial Championships in Australia last fall was the highlight of his career to date.
The Norwegian is set to be part of the Jumbo-Visma team for the Giro d'Italia. However, his contract expires at the end of this season.
Wielerfritz has listed four teams as interested in the Norwegian, claiming that the most likely at the moment are Bahrain Victorious or Israel Premier Tech.
Another candidate, Uno-X Pro Cycling, has apparently been ruled out, despite the fact that the team and players share the same nationality and Uno-X is seeking a higher profile in the peloton as part of its long-term campaign to join the World Tour.
Foss himself joined Jumbo-Visma in 2020 as part of the Uno-X Norwegian Development team.
In his second year as a professional, Foss finished ninth in the overall ranking of the Italian Grand Tour in 2021. Foss then went on to win both the Norwegian road and time trial titles.
In 2022, after being involved in a crash at Coppi e Bartali and suffering a head injury at the Giro, Foss made a spectacular comeback with the Norwegian time trial title and surprised the favorites for the world championship.
Foss' combination of time trial and GC talent makes him attractive to teams, and if Wielerfritz's report is confirmed, Foss will be racing under different team colors in 2024.
